The Preparation of Macrocyclic Diester and Tetraester Ligands by a Transesterification Process

Abstract

This short review summarizes the synthesis of macrocyclic diester and tetraester crown Iigands by a transesterification process. Compared with the previous method using a diacid chloride, this method is especially effective for the synthesis of macrocyclic diester compounds from secondary glycols. In addition, this method enables the synthesis of some diester compounds, which could not be obtained using other methods.
