Abstract

Two organophosphorus and cine carbamate insecticide were investigated in a village-scale trial by WHO Insecticide Testing Unit in Lagos, Nigeria. Clinically no toxic effects were observed and only slight plasma cholinesterase depression was found in spraymen and in villagers exposed to one of insecticides tested. During the trial comparison of four methods for cholinesterase determination was carried out. Their reliability in field conditions is discussed and each method is critically evaluated.
