Abstract
A review of the literature data on the effect of specific substances - common in industry as environmental pollutants - upon respiratory organs is presented. Chronic bronchitis in industry is discussed separately, especially from the point of view of long-term effects of irritant gases and inert dust exposure. A part of the review relates to the diagnostic problems of bronchitis, as well as to the study of the so-called obstructive ventilatory diseases of the lung in relation to occupation.
