Abstract

The following chelating compounds were compared with respect to their acute intrapeoitoneal LD50: EDTA (ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid), DTPA (diethvlenetriamine penta-acetic acid), DIMEDTA (dimethylethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid), PDTA (propylenediamine tetraacetic acid), HEDT A (N-hvdroxyethyl ethylenediamine tri-acetic acid). The toxicity of the newly synthetised compound DIMEDT A is almost equal to the toxicity of DTP A, both substances being less toxic than the other three complexing agents tested. LD50 values for PDT A are within the values found for EDT A. The influence of the new chelating substances on radiostrontium elimination will be evaluated in the near future.
