Abstract

Addition of UO2++, Sr++ and Pb++ to plasma in concentrations from 12,5-62,5 µg/ml does not influence the prothrombin activity. Mercury ions cause a prolongation of the plasma prothrombin time resulting in a reduction of the prothrombin index values to about 55%. This effect of mercury depends on the concentration of mercury ions and the exposure time. The highest reduction in prothrombin index values was observed at concentrations from 25,0-37,5 µg/ml after 3 hours of exposure. At higher or lower concentrations the effect was less pronounced.
