Abstract
Sampling of airborne dust by means of a selective instrument having a retention similar to that of the lungs would greatly facilitate the evaluation of dust hazards. The author discusses the principles on which the design of such a instrument should be based. His conclusions are founded on recent experimental data on dust retention in alveoli.
