Abstract

Like some other Croatian towns, in the revolutionary mid-19th century period Bakar issued a town currency – coupons in the name of kreutzers. Two denominations were put into circulation, of 5 and 10 kreutzers, in two issues, on 6 February and 18 May 1849. The forgery of a 10 kreutzer (karantan) coupon was found, from the first issue of 6 February 1849, which had been used in circulation. The autor shows the characteristics
of all the denominations emitted, and there is a picture of the forged specimen.
