Two Alternate Routes for the Preparation of N1 -(2, 6-Dimethoxy-4-pyrimidinyl)-sulphanilamide

Abstract

It is well known that N 1-(2 ,6-dimethoxy-4-pyrimidinyl)-sulphanilamide (V) is a valuable l ong-acting sulpha drug. This compound was first synthesized by the interaction of sodium sulphanilamide and (2 ,6 -dimethoxy-4-pyrimidi nyl) trimethylammonium chloride in molten acetamide by Kli:itzer and Bret: schneider.
