Application of the Arndt-Eistert Synthesis to the Preparation of Polypeptides of β-Amino Acids

Abstract

The Wolff rearrangement of diazomethylphthalimidoalkyl ketones was performed in dioxane in the presence of esters of amino acids . The following polypeptides containing a- and B-amino acids, were thus prepared: B-alanyl-L-methionine (I), L- B- aminobutyryl-B-alanyl-L-methionine (II) , L-B-aminobutyryl-glycine (III),L - B -aminobutyryl-L-methionine (IV), L-B-aminobutyryl-L-alanine (V) and B- alanyl- glycine (VI).
