Abstract

The soaring energy prices and the increasing environmental issues have challenged many energyintensive manufacturing processes, including wood veneer drying. This study aimed to explore how data-driven approaches could help optimize the industrial veneer drying process to minimize energy consumption and maintain quality. Four optimization scenarios were defined to determine optimal dryer temperature and drying speed. The results demonstrate the feasibility of using data-driven methods in veneer drying for process improvement. This approach could be used to optimize the veneer drying schedule or evaluate the potential of using alternativeenergy sources.

Keywords
