Abstract

Analyzing the above-critical isothermal behaviour of a variety of experimentally determined equations of state of the Lennard - Jones, N2, Xe, Ar, ethane, propane, n-pentane, ethylene and propylene fluids, we found evidence suggesting δ4P/δq4 is strongly antisymmetric in the vicinity of (1 ± 0.1) qc and (2.7 ± 0.3) qc, qc being the critical density, and that the second isothermal derivative of the chemical potential is antisymmetric in the vicinity of (2. 7 ± 0.3) qc.
