Evidence for a level in 9B at 17.11 MeV member of the second T = 3/2 quadruplet

Abstract

The reactions 6Li (3He, y) 9B and 6Li (3He, p) 8Be16,6 (2α) have been investigated searching for the existence of a second T = 3/2 level in 9B. Both experiments resulted in the evidence on the existence of a level of 9B at 17.11 MeV. To this level T = 3 /2 value is assigned, because it appears only in two reactions which are isospin allowed and does not appear in any of those reactions which are isospin forbidden if it is a T = 3/2 state. This state in 9B and the states in 9Be and 9Li with excitation energies of 16.97 and 2.69 MeV, respectively, as well as a nonidentified state in 9C, form the second isospin quadruplet of nuclei with A = 9.
