Abstract

This paper aims to focus on two individuals important for ethnographic research in Slavonia. On one side is Ivo Čakalić, a peasant from Doljanovci near Požega, a poet and recorder of traditional life (a folk ethnographer), and on the other side is Zdenka Lechner, an ethnologist and curator at the Museum of Slavonia – a researcher of traditional life. Zdenka Lechner and Ivo Čakalić met during her field research in the Požega Valley around 1961, marking the beginning of their collaboration, which resulted in valuable manuscripts and artifacts donated by Čakalić to the Museum.
