Abstract

The values of the refractive index n and the extinction coefficient k have been measured for evaporated films of tin at wavelengths between 300 to 800 nm by transmission methods at room temperature. The results are compared with those obtained by previous workers at shorter wavelength, mainly in the visible region. The Drude parameters were derived from the real part of the dielectric constant giving τ = 14.99 x 10-16 s for the relaxation time.
