Analysis of neutron and alpha spectra in the interaction of neutrons with 9Be around 14 MeV

Abstract

The published alpha and neutron spectra resulting from the interaction of 14 MeV neutrons with 9Be have been analyzed to determine the importance of the simultaneous breakup process which yields phase space like contributions to the inclusive spectra. The analysis has established the importance of the three body simultaneous breakup mode (nα 5He), and the coherence of the alpha and neutron spectra in shape and magnitude.
