Abstract

With electric energy market opening including all accompanying consequences (restructuring of electric power companies, unbundling, legislation change, creation of market and system operator, energy sector regulation, privatisation), conditions of transmission network operation and development planning have strongly changed. The role of transmission network is now a function of enabling an efficient electric energy market that is a creation of a certain level of competitiveness among production subjects on the market as well as enabling the consumers to choose their own electric energy supplier. The supplier doesn’t necessarily come from the own but also from other electric energy systems, whereby export, import and transit significantly increase. One of the main obstacles to market transactions is the transmission network congestion. In this work the problem of recognition and management of congestions in the transmission network is described.
