ON THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE COMMON SLAVIC PROSODIC SYSTEM

Abstract
The aim of the paper is to present the reconstruction of the Common Slavic accentual system. After the introductory discussion on Proto-Slavic and Common Slavic, the stress is on providing and examining reasons for reconstruction of Common Slavic prosodemes, including their provisory phonetic nature. Then the nature of this system is discussed, with some typological comparisons and various possible interpretations in different periods.
