Abstract
Part one of the first comprehensive species list of the superfamily Gelechioidea in Croatia is presented. This list includes 10 families: Autostichidae, Lecithoceridae, Lypusidae, Depressariidae, Peleopodidae, Pterolonchidae, Elachistidae, Scythrididae, Blastobasidae and Momphidae. The compilation is based on a review of available published records, supplemented with data from accessible museum collections and the authors’ own field surveys, which have been conducted intermittently since the 1970s.
In total, 258 species from the above families have been documented in Croatia. Of these, 41 species are reported for the first time and are considered new to the country’s fauna. As no checklist of Microlepidoptera for Croatia has previously existed, this study makes a significant contribution to the fauna of these families and to the overall knowledge of the Croatian micromoth fauna.
