Abstract
The configuration of the print heads is a critical parameter in the UV Inkjet printing technique. The distance between the print head and the printing substrate significantly influences the precision of the printed content. Given that the movement speed of the printing substrate and the print head remain constant, an increase in this distance prolongs the flight time of the Inkjet ink droplets. This extended droplet trajectory results in a minute time delay, leading to inaccurate and highly irregular imposition of the imprint (poor colour register). This paper presents a detailed examination of the influence of the length of the black ink droplet path, which was investigated by varying the thickness of the printing substrate. This methodology indirectly established three different print distances between the substrate and the printer's inkjet head. The results demonstrate that adjusting the print head height distance by Δh = 0.74 mm directly impacts the dimensions, blurriness, and raggedness of the reproduced lines. This change in height was found to cause a visible degradation in prints featuring positive and negative black micro lines, and, irrespective of the printing substrate employed, it affects the realization of achromatic images and textual material.
