Abstract

This paper describes analysis of the pulse width modulated single-phase inverter output voltage. By using the over-modulation principle the total harmonic distortion of the output voltage increases due to low harmonic spectrum, but yet output voltage first harmonic is also increased. The root mean square component of the output voltage therefore increases. Due to this phenomenon the dc converter input voltage can be decreased, which is always welcome.
