Abstract

After the end of the Cold War global politics has not moved in the direction of a new peaceful international order. Rather it carries the
appearance of 19th century great power politics with the US, Europe,
Russia, China, Japan, India and Iran vying for influence. In such a
hostile environment, democracies ought to cooperate even tighter if they
want to resist the challenge posed by autocracies.
