Abstract

The paper deals with the mythical organisation of culture as an element of ethnological pattern applied on a travel-record. The biography of Jan Magiere (1876 - 1958), a Polish philosopher, folklorist, polonist and admirer of the South Slavic culture, is presented here, and a passage where Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Dalmatia are also mentioned. The author establishes the main stereotypes which guided the writer of travels to experience the south Slavic cultural circle almost as his own Gallician (Krakow, Lavov).
