Abstract

It is well known that UV radiation damages the eyes, the skin and the human immune system. There are many UV protective devices on the market, such as sunglasses, UV creams and protective clothing. The guiding protective standard for outdoor UV exposure is the UV index (UVI). However, indoor exposure to artificial light containing UV components can also be harmful. This paper deals with UV components found in common artificial light sources. We have also proposed some measures to improve indoor UV protection, particularly in offices.
