Abstract

The article first presents the basic aspects of theology by Marcellus from Ancyra. His theology is interpreted in the light of so called 'theology of the Logos' and the 'theology of the Son'. His theology will lead us to a better understanding of almost all the theological research and controversies of the 4th century, particularly of the Councils held in Syrmium, i.e. of the ‘Dated Council’ from 359 A.D. The second section shows some modern Trinitarian theologies – Rahner, Balthasar, Greshake, Werbick, Striet - precisely in view of the discussions on the ‘theology of the Logos’ and the ‘theology of the Son’. We’ll see that modern Trinitarian theologies can be categorized in line with the two models. Finally, the article presents a new-old Trinitarian axiom, which could now read: economical Trinity of the incarnate Son-Logos is now and forever the inherent Trinity of the incarnate Son-Logos.
