Abstract

The author writes of the students from Croatian regions who studied at Olomouc University in Moravia. A special interest is given to records referring to Ivan Zakmardi Dijankovečki and other Križevci born students. Ivan Zakmardi started his education in Jesuit high school in Zagreb and completed it in Olomouc, where he spent the time between 1615 and 1617. A total of 56 students from Croatia studied there, mostly in the first half of the 17th century. However, a greater number of students from the inland of Croatia came there in the 16th century. Records kept at the university tell us that the first student came in 1569. In the second half of the 17th century the number of students decreased significantly and by the end of the 18th century there were no more than five students. This research does not cover periods after 1781.
Apart from Ivan Zakmardi Dijankovečki some other students originating from Križevci studied at Olomouc University: Ivan Maljak, Nikola Benger, Atanazije Anckelin.
