Abstract

Presented is the significance of rotatoria (Brachionus plicatilis M) in the larval food and post larval sea fish. In the beginning the rotatoria were collected from the lake where cels were cultured. Due to the encouraging starting results of surviving larval of sea fish and crab fish the rotatoria became an wireplaceable feeding component in the first days of feeding. Numerous investigations were carried out on the reproduction conditions, population growth and their massive culture. Knowing the importance of the basic fatty acids in the larval food and the post larval fish and crab fish, the investiga-tions on the biochemical components and feeding quality of rotatoria was investigated. Now there is a whole range of products which enrich the nutritional value of rotatoria or even replace algae or bakt™s yeast as a basic culturing medium. Attempts to completely replace the rotatoria by other organisms ie. artemia, for many species of sea fish ie., Sparidae, are still being investigated.
