Abstract

Building of Prančevići in 1961 formed a free flowing accumulation lake in the canyon of the river Cetina as a compensation pond for the Hydroac- cumulation Zakučac I i II.
During 1985 and 1986 seasonal ichthyological investigations were carried out on the hydro accumulation Prančevići and the river Cetina to the town of Trilj.
The ichthyfaunic structure is presented in Tables 1 to 4, and the age structure of the fish is presented in Table 5.
The investigated area has been inhabited by the following fish: Salmo trutta, f. fario, Salmo trutta f. lacustris, Oncorchynchus mykiss, Coregonus peled, Thymallus thymallus, Leuciscus illyricus, Leuciscus ukliva, Leuciscus soffia muticellus, Aulopyge hügeli, Carassius auratus gibelio and Cobitis taenia dalmatina. Cetina`s endemic fish as Leuciscus illyricus, L. ukliva, L. soffia, C. taenia dalmatina and Aulopyge hügeli are present in all the investigated locations (L1 to L5).
The whole investigated area has a low number and small, biomass of fish per investigated surface. A dominant species is the L. illyricus (53% in numbers and 83% in biomass). The trout and the lake trout make up 10% of the biomass. The rainbow trout makes up very little (0. 84%) and the grayling makes up the least (0. 57%), while the peled makes up 3%. The population of trout and the chub fish are in balance. The investigated area has a salmonid character.
