Abstract

This paper analyzes the role and impact of European Union directives on the process of liberalization of the internal market for electricity and on a change in direction towards an open and free market, as well as their impact on the process of deregulation of electric-ity sector and what has been done up to now in the Republic of Croatia. In this paper, the author has expressed his opinion about the privatization of the electricity sector of the national economy: the privatization of the Croatian Electric Power Industry is not good for the Republic of Croatia and for its economy.
