Abstract
Terrorism is a concept around which the academic,
professional, political and wider social circles were not agreed
in terms of the generally accepted generic definition. However,
for a fuller understanding of terrorism, it is useful to analyze
the phenomenon through the prism of theories and theoretical
perspectives. This paper presents a series of theories of power
and of conflict and their application to terror, terrorism, and
terrorist organizations, as well as the relationship between
terrorist organizations, as non-state entities, and states. The
three pillars model, as a comprehensive theoretical approach
to conflict resolution, has an important role in the paper.
