Abstract
The text The Tucić family literary-cultural circle analyses the literary and cultural activities of three brothers, Mladen, Srgjan and Vendelin Tucić. Although the work of Srgjan Tucić can be found in the history of Croatian drama and theatre, the prose of the older brother Mladen, and a vast amount of poems and dramas of the younger brother Vendelin have remained beyond the interest of researchers of this problematics. The three brothers are ten years older than each other, and their literary achievements spread throughout two stylistic periods, realism and modernism. This work attempts to find the links within their work and place them within an artistic context of the times of their apparition. It is understandable that most attention is drawn to the opus of Srgjan Tucić. The poetic peculiarities of each work (prose and drama), as well as the theatrical activities of Srgjan Tucić in Sophia, Zadar, Split and Osijek, are analysed and assessed. His biography is supplemented with new, until now, unknown facts. As it is rare to have three literary artists of a more or less same period, being brethren, not only in the Croatian cultural milieu (could be compared to the family of August Šenoa), it is worthwhile to study not only the work of Srgjan Tucić (his Croatian and American periods) but also the literary work of his brothers Mladen and Vendelin, and place him within the space of national literature.
