Abstract
New communication media (television, video as its creative expression, and finally computer technology) have brought radical changes in the general conditions of modern life and have significantly changed human sensitivity. In the attempt to answer the question on how these influenced the development of Croatian drama writing, this text analyses two drama texts by Ivan Bakmaz Video fabula and Video život, which thematise the field of the developed culture of home video, and present the first attempts of dramatic formation of the relation between man and his media extensions in the context of Croatian literature. This is followed by a review of dramas by the young drama writer Tanja Radović (Mačja glava, Iznajmljivanje vremena, Kompjutor, Mreža, Sunčeve pjege, Središte života) which, following Bakmaz’s video worlds, strongly deal with the intervention of technology in human nature, its destruction of human imagination and inspiration, as well as the seek for identity in a world of limitless and uncensored media influences.
