Abstract

The contribution will address the fundamental problems of terminology, typology, interpretation and reconstruction of archaeological objects that are inconsistently described as pit houses, half pit houses, mine hut, hut. Based on various analyses, the author tried to describe and define different types of sunken buildings in the settlements of the early Middle Ages in Central and Eastern Europe.
