CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LUBRICANT MARKET OF CROATIA AND ITS SURROUNDING MARKETS

Over the past ten or more years, there have been considerable changes on the market of Croatia, as well as on its surrounding markets. Within the region, there are great differences and impacts on the lubricant market, while the lubricant quality development trends, as well as the condition of the vehicle and industrial pool, differ from one market to another. In the basic intention of trying to present all the specificities and differences of the said lubricant markets in the region, with the stress on Croatian market, the present paper has been divided into 4 parts.
The first part presents the basic properties, surrounding conditions, that impact the lubricant business, with the estimation of a possible market development; lubricant consumption shown, and the differences of the market in the region stressed. In the second part, the stress is on Croatian market, especially as regards consumption estimation per groups of lubricants and related products. The third part is an attempt to provide a presentation of estimations and impact of trends on the quality level on Croatian market, with comparison per respective markets.
Finally, in the fourth part, important principles and estimations of market-related issues are being stressed, bearing long-term impact on the development of lubricant market both in Croatia and in wider region. All the data have been obtained and confirmed from several sources up to the end of year 2002. As regards the available data of state institutions or from own sources, up until the end of June, 2003.
