Abstract

Salmonides food can be of animal or vegetable origin. Among animal food are live organisms, fresh food and dry food (animal concentrates) used for feeding. By the use of quality concentrates in the food of rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri, Richardson), a cheaper growth rate could be reached with a low consumption of food.
The quality concentrates include the food with 35 to 65 % proteins, 12% carbohydrates and 10% fat. It must have vitamins and minerals in a small amount, some mg/kg of the body weight.
The quantity of food and the number of meals (should be determined according to the age of the fishes, oxygen quantity in the water, and quality of the food, because the success of feeding depends on this.
