Abstract
The 6xxx series aluminium alloys are charactarised by excellent extrudability, heat treatment hardening, good corrosion resistance, and relativly good mechanical properties. Therefore it is frequently used as an extruded product (bars, tubes) for structures requiring low weight, average mechanical strength, and good corrosion resistance. In this article, electrochemical measurements were used to determine corrosion resistance of En AW-6060 (extruded) in 0.5M NaCl chloride media. The results have shown that EN AW-6060 is sucseptible to pitting corrosion, which is due to microstructural characteristics of that alloy.
