Abstract

The paper discusses theoretical explanations (characteristics and functions) of children’s symbolic puppet plays elaborating on the possibilities of their incitement. The results of the monitoring, which implies the analysis of videos displaying children’s puppet plays in a kindergarten, have been presented. The interpretation of the results coincides with the findings indicated in the relevant literature as well as with the experiences in the educational practice in kindergartens and schools. It indicates that puppets intensively engage children, both intellectually and emotionally, and contribute to the development of different abilities.
