Abstract

In complex and intertwined relations within a school students and their teachers, although on different levels, have an influence on the development of their classroom atmosphere and on their own intercultural relations. They create a condition for a pleasant and supporting classroom atmosphere on the basis of students’ involvement in their homeroom, following the agreed homeroom rules and shared responsibility. Furthermore, they create their own conditions of intercultural relations through their knowledge and the development of knowledge acqusition on differences, classroom communication and intercultural sensibility. The work displays the research results of the relation between classroom atmosphere and intercutlural sensibility. In that context the variable of student involvement in a homeroom is conceptually and terminologically defined as one of the key factors in intercultural relations. On the sample of 156 eight-graders it has been established that there are no statistically significant differences in students involvement due to their gender, school success, the level of their parents’ education and urban place of residence.
