Abstract

Given the diversity of factors influencing the music preferences of students, this paper explores the young learners’ music preferences to music of different tempos, and the impact of gender and age on the preference of the slow/tranquil or fast/lively music. As part of the research we carried out a survey and a sound questionnaire on the sample of 176 young learners. It is concluded that music preferences are not significantly influenced by gender and age, because all respondents showed greater preference to fast/lively music, regardless of gender and age.
