MERCENARIES, PRIVATE MILITARY COMPANIES AND THEIR TREATMENT IN INTERNATIONAL LAW

Abstract
The nature of modern inter and intrastate relationships and the need of countries to achieve the interests, maintain stability and other goals at international and local level induce them to use mercenaries, individuals with the second oldest profession in the world. Although the individual mercenaries have not disappeared, the extent and the use of their services changes with the introduction of new form of private military forces in the shape of private military companies. The paper discusses some aspects of regulation of these issues in international law.
