Abstract

Difficulties encountered in the process of cartographic data generalization are actual because of different approaches used. Standpoints about the sufficiency of subjective element, or introproduction of automatization as a general model vary greatly. Exploring the best known mathematical model, according to F, Topfer, very few deviations regarding the classical generalization processes have been stated. Therefore it was considered justified to accept mathematical models for sophisticated generalization processes in the field of marine cartography and to point out the intention of further scientific research by means of practical applications.

Keywords
