Abstract

In this paper climatic regionalization of Croatia after W. Köppen for the standard period 1961 – 1990 is presented. The resultats are compared with the climatic map from previous standard period 1931 – 1960. For this purpose the vertical air temperature gradients and vertical precipitation gradients are calculated. In the last standard period the number of climatic types is reduced and the climatic boundaries have been changed. This is particularly related to the Mediterranean climate with hot summers (Csa). This type of climate comprises only the islands amd narrow belt along the Dalmatian coast. Further inland is the area of temperature warm humid climate with hot summers (Cfa). The exact boundary separation of the Cf/Cs climatic areas are demonstrated by Walter climatic diagrams (Pula, Rab, Mali Lošinj, Zadar).
