Abstract

Classic survey methods were used to investigate the transport demands on the route Zagreb – Koprivnica for rail and passenger road transport in the period from 25 July to 21 August 2011. A total
of 912 passengers in rail transport and 231 passengers in road transport were surveyed. Transport flows were analysed using an arrival-departure matrix. The data obtained are depicted graphically and used in an analysis of the transport system of the area between Zagreb and Koprivnica. Transports capacities for passenger transport and the further organisation of passengers on the route Zagreb –
Koprivnica were established using an intermodal transport network. With the construction of fast roads and a two-lane railway track as top priority transport projects, it is also necessary to find an optimum solution for the construction of an intermodal passenger terminal so that rail and road transport can develop a new partnership relationship, instead of a competitor relationships.
