Abstract

Pain is an uncomfortable personal experience which is hard to define. It is percieved and coped with differently by each of us. According to the definition of the International association for the study of pain: “An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage”. This article discusses in short the patophysiology and the perception of pain in the peripheral and central nervous systems.
