Abstract

Abstract
LP models for optimizing oil processing and transportation have a wide application in the area of operative processing planning, development planning, and in all processes of decision making associated with feed supply, processing, quality, volumes and prices of products and feeds, and their distribution, marketing, and sales network organization. Results of optimizing refinery LP models present a useful assistance while estimating cost effectiveness and making decisions regarding the advancement of refinery margin, enabling the optimization of production according to market requirements, while respecting technological resurces, for the purpose of achieving maximum refinery margin and minimal costs.
The purpose of the paper is to present the possibilities of LP model as tools under conditions of meeting the production of a fixed volume of products, which, in practice, may refer to the demand on the local and/or fixed export market, while optimising additional production for placing on other markets.
The said approach to production optimization has been implemented on the example of optimizing the operation of Rijeka Oil Refinery and the price structure of the Mediterranean market.
