Abstract

St Francis of Assisi’s Dream of Armour seems to be an
important element in studying not so much the vocation of Francis of Assisi, but the vocation in general. Since anthropology,
psychology, philosophy, theology, etc. deal with the analysis and
interpretation of dreams, the concept of understanding this dream
sets a framework for various scientific (anthropology, psychology)
and theoretical principles (philosophy, theology-spirituality).
We are aware that studying somebody’s life, especially
somebody’s dreams, is by no means an easy task. In spite of that,
our aim is to point at some elements of this dream that seem to be
important for understanding a broader picture of a vocation, and
go beyond its mere bio-psychological or sociological definition.
