Abstract

The introduction to this paper describes metabolic syndrome as the most prominent disease among metabolic diseases. Metabolic syndrome is defi ned according to the criteria of the World Health Organization and International Diabetes Federation. The paper continues to describe exercise in more detail, from metabolic
effects to changes in different body organs. The importance of exercise for a healthy lifestyle is then discussed. The best results in the treatment of metabolic syndrome can be achieved combining aerobic and anaerobic exercise. The best results for reducing body weight can be achieved with combined effects of regular exercise
and a reduction diet. Motivation is the critical element in regular exercise. Most persons with metabolic syndrome do not exercise regularly, using lack of time as an excuse, but insist on intensified anaerobic exercise once a week for several hours. This is a group of persons who usually develop injuries that may lead to disability. The paper explains the role of international organisations, governments, health systems, nongovernmental organisations, and all individuals in sustainable exercise and lists their responsibilities. Finally, it is suggested to introduce, perform, and monitor regular, daily exercise through self-control and the health system, especially for the sustainable intensity of aerobic and anaerobic exercise.
