Abstract


Parents of children with impairment on development are often exposed to many stressful situations. Recognizing that their child needs professional help put on them new challenges and additional efforts. Insufficient or unselected informations give parents a sense of frustration and incompetence. In all this, they feel lost and often do not know who to contact to discuss their problems. In order to inform and support parents of children with impairment on development educational workshops were designed and implemented. Nine parents participated in 6 workshops that took place from January till March 2011 at the Department of Pediatric Rehabilitation, Clinic of Rheumatology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Clinical Hospital Centre “Sestre milosdrnice”. The evaluation confirmed the success of the workshops which was reflected in satisfaction of parents received information and exchange of experiences with other parents as well as support by experts.
