Abstract

Primorsko-goranska County attaches great importance to the issue of renewable energy sources. Both in order to minimize greenhouse gases, and to reduce large dependence on non-renewable energy sources. The paper will outline those activities that the County undertook with the aim to ensure physical planning preconditions, which will have a favourable effect on the implementation of renewable energy sources, in particular on the construction of wind power plants. Afore said can serve as a model which could be applied in other Croatian regions and elsewhere. In the focus of this paper lies the analysis of the suggested model of selecting potential locations of wind power plants developed by Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar, as well as the most recent European guidelines on this issue.
