Abstract

The characterization of polymer materials is a very complex assignment because it is necessary to determine mechanical, thermal, electrical and other physical properties, as well as the behavior of materials in various conditions. Polymers are especially sensitive to damage caused by ultraviolet radiation. Photons of this radiation have enough energy to break C-C bonds in numerous linear polymers. Consequently, this breakage becomes a place of oxidation degradation. Radiation can affect mechanical properties, but also electrical and magnetic properties of materials [1]. The study of these changes is significant in the determination of the material lifespan [2, 3] for polymer materials used in maritime construction.
