Abstract

The basic dynamic structural differences in the population of urban and other settlements are analysed. With regard to age structure the town population is younger and with regard of education it is on a higher level than the population of other settlements (rural). This, together with greater emancipation of the female inhabitans of town settlements, demonstrates a characteristic dechotomy between urban and other settlements. Differences with regard to the number of members in a household and differences in national structure are analysed. The latter demonstrates the force of the rural exodus from other republics and provinces in Yugoslavia. The results are significant for the regional planning and general development of Croatia.
